If you've got QuickTime installed, chances are you have a useless little ‘Q' icon in your Windows system tray, also known as the notification area. Want to get rid of the icon to save space? Here's how.
First, make sure you have downloaded and installed the latest version of Quicktime at http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/.
Once you have the new version of QuickTime, right click the ‘Q' icon in your system tray, and click QuickTime Preferences.
In the QuickTime preferences window, click the Advanced tab.
At the bottom of the Advanced tab, click to deselect the Install QuickTime icon in the system tray checkbox.
Click OK and the icon should disappear from your system tray.
